My favorite websites in Alaska

Yesterday I started a list of the best Alaska website designs, and today I thought I'd start a different list of my favorite Alaska websites. These websites aren't necessarily the best designs, but are my "favorites" for other reasons, as I'll describe below.

Challenger Learning Center of Alaska
My first favorite Alaska website is the Challenger Learning Center of Alaska. My actual degree is in aerospace engineering, and I'm still easily captivated by anything related to the aerospace industry. After reading all their literature, I love what the CLC is doing here in Alaska.

The Anchorage Museum
So far The Anchorage Museum is the first website to make both of my lists. I love the design of the Anchorage Museum website, as well as the content, both online and at the museum.

KTNA, Talkeetna, Alaska
I don't visit it as often as I'd like, but I do enjoy the KTNA radio website out of Talkeetna, Alaska. I used to listen to KTNA when I lived in Talkeetna in the summer of 2007, so at the very least it's a great reminder of living there. Beyond that, they're a good source of interesting news in the Mat-Su Valley.

Radio Free Palmer
As I now live in Palmer, Alaska, I hope that Radio Free Palmer will be one of my favorite websites, and will soon be one of my favorite radio stations.

Mat-Su Valley Frontiersman
Living in the Mat-Su Valley, the Frontiersman is another source of local news. While I wish they would improve their design and use colors in a less ad-hoc manner, their content is what you come here for, and unlike other online Alaska newspapers, they don't resort to pop-up/pop-under ads.

Dana Stabenow
I'm a big fan of the Dana Stabenow Kate Shugak mystery novels, and I like her website. I just stumbled onto her website while wondering what was going on with the planned Kate Shugak tv series.

Iditarod Website
The official Iditarod website is also a favorite, especially this time of year. Wow, the race starts in just a couple of weeks, I'm pretty excited about that.

Fur Rondy
I'm not sure if the Fur Rondy is a favorite website, but right now (mid-February) it is important, as the Rondy begins next weekend.

More coming soon ...

I'll add more websites to this list as I encounter and/or remember them. I'd like to add some of the local newspaper websites, but until they stop using pop-under ads on their sites, I can't bring myself to do that.
